I’m M— Dash, the writer and artist behind Sparksoil.

I didn’t start with a framework.

I started with a conversation.

When illness, exhaustion, and cognitive fog made it increasingly difficult to access things I knew and understood, I began leaving myself breadcrumbs.

Words.

Images.

Little observations.

Things I might be able to find again when my brain couldn’t remember the way.

Then, while journaling, a question occurred to me:

What would happen if I let the different things happening inside me speak to each other?

I wrote a tiny dialogue.

Almost a poem.

And something deep inside me shifted.

The conversations became characters.

The characters became stories and songs.

And eventually, little immersive rooms.

I wasn’t trying to make a theory come alive. I was trying to stay in contact with my own life.

I still use what I make.

I still need it.

And I wondered whether some of those things might be useful company for someone else, too.
